SHRADHA KAPOOR FOR WED
When working in environmental conservation, waste management is a crucial aspect. What if you were able to use waste to power street lights? That’s exactly what the Bhamla Foundation has managed to do with the support of the Pali Hill Residents Association and Ashish Shelar, Minister of School Education, Sports and Youth Welfare, Maharashtra. Our collective efforts has led to the first-of-its-kind model Bio Gas recycling system that converts Waste to Energy using Yasasu Green, a small scale containerized product to treat waste at source based on DRYCO-ADTM technology. What does this mean for the residents of Pali Hill? This decentralised model will be a pioneer in a ‘zero garbage’ ecosystem processing nearly 1 ton of waste from 78 buildings and 23 bungalows. The resulting by-product will be used to generate electricity that will power the street lights on Pali. Our goal is to move towards making Pali Hill a plastic free zone as part of our #BeatPlasticPollution campaign!
